The Valley: British Cuisine at the Azura Restaurant

Hidden away in an oasis of serenity only a few miles away from Cornwall’s capital Truro lies Azura, The Valley’s modern restaurant which celebrates the best of modern British cuisine with Cornish ingredients.

The Valley is perfectly positioned for a relaxing Cornish getaway at any time of the year. Home to a selection of luxury cottages within thirteen acres of land, The Valley offers superb self-catering properties but with the perks of staying in a hotel.

Two of my closest friends Alex and Anna took on the project of re-launching Azura at the beginning of the summer and I can honestly say that they have done a wonderful job! With Alex managing the restaurant and Anna working on the marketing for the rebrand, I am extremely proud of how much they have achieved in such a short space of time - the restaurant has been an absolute hit with both guests of The Valley and locals.

Alex and Anna invited both my boyfriend Josh and I to try out Azura’s brand new menu. Changing direction from fine dining, Azura now offers guests the best of modern British cuisine. From tasty small plates and sharing platters to pizza and burgers, the Azura menu has something for everyone. The menu also caters for any dietary requirements and the head chef is always happy to make alterations where necessary.

Alex, Anna, Josh and I (cute double date!) ordered an array of starters to begin with. Of course, Josh and I were absolutely delighted with the seafood options so we ordered the salt and pepper squid and a bread sharer to start. Anna and Alex opted for nachos and camembert - delicious!

For the main course, I decided to go for the BBQ chicken pizza. It was a tough call against the whole tail scampi but the pizza came out on top! Josh and Alex shared the cajun spatchcock chicken which looked incredible - the plate was full of drumsticks and battered chicken strips (eyes bigger than their bellies!)

It was a complete feast and there was NO WAY that I was going to attempt dessert (even though I managed CRAX at the cinema later in the evening). If you’re looking for some British classic dishes and a good feed then Azura is the one for you. It’s nice to escape the hustle and bustle and hideaway at The Valley - it’s peaceful yet only a few miles away from Cornwall’s capital, Truro.

*Dinner was kindly given to us complimentary however all opinions are my own (plus I’m not biased by being a friend of Anna and Alex’s!) - the food was delicious and we left feeling full and satisfied!
