Whilst a trip abroad looks unlikely, there are still a number of incredible places in the UK to enjoy once it’s safe to do so. So far we’ve been in lockdown for approx 3 months, but restrictions are starting to ease and hospitality and tourism businesses are preparing to reopen. It might be a summer like no other, but at least we have the beaches on our side in Cornwall.

From boutique B&Bs and glamping pods to luxury coastal hotels and spa stays, Cornwall has it all. Here’s a list of my favourite accommodation spots, that I have tried, tested and high recommend.

Chapel House, Penzance - Georgian Boutique B&B

"Charming" is the first word that springs to my mind when looking to describe the Chapel House in Penzance. The Georgian building was built in 1790 and was used as a family house, a WW2 shelter and an arts club before being thrown onto the property market for £1.2 million. Despite the walls being painted oxblood red, Susan Stuart saw the buildings potential; took it off the market in 2011, and bought it back to life following an extensive two-year redesign and renovation. Susan has not only successfully turned Chapel House into one of the most stylish boutique hotels in Cornwall but has also perfected the guest experience from start to finish.

Chapel House certainly helps put Penzance on the map. Located on one of the most picturesque streets, the hotel is just stones throw away from St Michaels Mount and Jubilee Pool (soon to be geothermal). It also only takes a 20 minute drive before you could be standing on the edge of Lands End or indulging in Cornish history at the iconic, Minack Theatre. Kudhva, Tintagel - A Cornish Hideout

Kudhva is a different kind of camping site. In fact, I’m not even sure if you can call it a campsite. Think sleeping under the stars in a off grid, treetop cabin in the middle of 45 acres of land. You may be completely secure sleeping in a Kudhva, but the cabins aren’t visible from any exterior premises - it really is a secret hideout. It’s just you, the Cornish woodland, and nature

“Every day is a good day” Louise, the owner of Kudhva tells the group during a tour around the grounds. That’s why the price tag for staying in a Kudhva never changes along with the seasons. Come rain or snow, wind or sunshine, sleeping between the trees offers a quirky experience for all regardless of the weather. A little daring, very wild and architecturally innovative.

There are currently four Kudhva's in total within the 45 acres of land. It may disrupt the current idea of “camping” but the site certainly offers a space to completely relax, step away from everyday life and challenge previous holiday experiences. There aren't any powered lights or electricity, so your only option is candle light - but then again, that’s when good things happen and people engage in real conversation. St Ives Harbour Hotel - Luxury Boutique by the Sea

The St Ives Harbour Hotel located overlooking Porthminster beach just stone’s throw away from St Ives town, is a luxury boutique hotel that boasts stylish decor and impressive coastal views. A true seaside escape with recently refurbished facilities - the St Ives Harbour Hotel is St Ives most chic hotel.

Part of the luxury Harbour Hotels group, the St Ives Harbour Hotel is clearly expected to be of high standards. The hotel recently undertook a refurbishment and a brand change from The Porthminster Hotel to its swankier name of St Ives Harbour Hotel. With contemporary colour schemes and classy bold interiors, the hotel definitely makes a statement. You’re never too far from the sounds of the waves or the views of the white sandy beach below. Polurrian Hotel - A hidden gem tucked away on the Lizard

Perched proudly on the cliffside at Mullion in the Lizard, The Polurrian Hotel offers spectacular views over the Atlantic ocean and a reassuringly unspoilt location for guests. Contemporary in style with an enhanced lifestyle in design. The Polurrian has recently opened its doors to the public after a refurbishment with a twist.

The hotel restaurant which is also open to non-hotel guests features a wood-fired oven producing hand-stretched pizzas alongside a delicious new menu which is inspired by the rustic dishes and bold flavours of the Mediterranean. The restaurant uses the finest local produce from Cornwall’s farms to sea.

The Polurrian has it all. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing getaway or a jam-packed adventure as a family, there’s something for everyone. The hotel has a health club that is home to a gym, pool, and sauna. If you’re looking for something which gets you moving then there’s also a ping pong table room, clifftop tennis courts, outside pool, and a play area for the little ones. The Alverton Manor, Truro - A City Escape

A night at The Alverton Hotel certainly did not disappoint. Full of character, this grade ll listed building makes you feel like royalty from the moment you step through the door. Almost like a classic country town hotel, with a huge contemporary twist - each bedroom has it's own style - it goes without saying that the Bishop Suite is one of a kind.

Now it may not be your typical Cornish Hotel with views over the ocean, but hey ho,' who cares when the hotel is fit for royalty? The hotel stands in the heart of Truro, Cornwall's capital city and is perfectly positioned for those coming into the airport or nearby train stations. The beaches are still close though - you can find the North coast beaches about 15 minutes away, and the South Coast is equally the same distance - it's the best of both worlds and ideal for those looking for a base to explore Cornwall. fowery harbour hotel - quintessentially seaside escape

As mentioned above, the Harbour Hotels are my all time favourite chain of stylish hotels. Last year we fell in love with the St Ives Harbour Hotel so I was super excited to be invited to check out their hotel in Fowey. The Victorian boutique hotel is nestled on the west bank of the River Fowey with picture perfect views across the estuary, a real Cornish escape.

The bar and restaurant area makes for a perfect hang out spot, with a relaxed yet buzzing vibe in beautiful surroundings. This area is also open to non-residents, which is perfect if you want to celebrate a special occasion or just fancy a sneaky cocktail. ⁣Read the full blog post here.
