The Alverton Hotel: The New Bishop Suite
Comfort is king and I felt like an absolute princess staying in the Bishop Suite.
I'd always been curious about the Alverton Hotel in Truro. I live about 20 minutes away from the hotel, but I had never been there so I was beyond excited to have been invited to stay at their new Bishop Suite for the night.
A night at The Alverton Hotel certainly did not disappoint - it's officially one of my favourite hotels in Cornwall. Full of character, this grade ll listed building makes you feel like royalty from the moment you step through the door. Almost like a classic country town hotel, with a huge contemporary twist - each bedroom has it's own style - it goes without saying that the Bishop Suite is one of a kind.
Now it may not be your typical Cornish Hotel with views over the ocean, but hey ho,' who cares when the hotel is fit for royalty? The hotel stands in the heart of Truro, Cornwall's capital city and is perfectly positioned for those coming into the airport or nearby train stations. The beaches are still close though - you can find the North coast beaches about 15 minutes away, and the South Coast is equally the same distance - it's the best of both worlds and ideal for those looking for a base to explore Cornwall.
Now I mentioned previously I thought that the Hotel was fit for royalty, and I stick to my words. On the flip side however, the hotel has a chilled and unpretentious atmosphere making it the perfect place for a weekend of relaxation. The Alverton is not only fit with a restaurant offering various food menus (the crab linguine was amazing) but it also has a beautiful terrace overlooking the hotel gardens. As I sipped on a Cosmopolitan, I decided that The Alverton Terrace Bar was now my go-to drinking spot in Truro. I think often people believe that they have to be checked into the hotel to eat and drink there but you don't have to be! The restaurant and terrace are open to the public throughout the year offering breakfasts to seasonal dishes and afternoon tea to light bites.
After dinner we climbed the stairs (or attempted to in our heels) to our room. The Bishop Suite is a new addition to the Alverton Junior Suite collection and overlooks the front of the hotel. I have to say that it is probably the most romantic room that I have ever seen - but oh wait, I'm living the single girl life. Luckily, I am blessed to have my wonderful girlfriends in my life, so I was joined by my fellow blondie, Lucy for a girls night! After dinner and drinks, we wondered downstairs and the very welcoming receptionist called us a taxi to take us into town (it's a five minute walk but we were being lazy) where you we found a number of bars/clubs to have a little dance in.
The Bishop Suite boasts a feature fireplace, high ceilings and lots of natural daylight. The golden hues, natural tones and rich reds add instant warmth to the room. The room is extremely spacious and has a four poster bed in the middle of the room. Guess what? It gets better! TWO ROLL TOP BATHS and White Company bath goodies. Oh, if only there was a way that I could install the Bishop Suite bathroom into my house.
Comfort is king and I felt like an absolute princess staying in the Bishop Suite.
