Cornwall Restaurants: Fifteen, Watergate Bay

Watergate Bay has become one of the trendiest places to drink and dine in Cornwall. Located just a few miles outside of Newquay, Watergate Bay is home to several eateries, including Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen. With panoramic views across the bay, the award-winning Fifteen offers a unique blend of Italian cuisine and locally sourced ingredients.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have dined at Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen a few times over the last few years. Previously, I enjoyed an evening meal with a group of journalists as well as a delicious breakfast with some other lovely Cornish bloggers. Fifteen pride themselves on passion and high-quality produce and it’s easy to understand why.

Myself and other Cornish bloggers were kindly invited to try out Fifteen’s latest summer menu. The menus change seasonally as new produce arrives into the kitchen ready for the chefs to turn into innovative dishes. The previous menus that I have tried have all been such high quality, bursting with flavour and presented perfectly.

As we tucked into the selection of starters we caught up and also agreed that Watergate Bay had definitely become busier than the previous year. With light decor and panoramic views, Fifteen is a perfect spot to watch the happenings on the beach below (photo below taken out of season when I last visited Fifteen).

For starter we tucked into burrata with Italian peach, Newlina’s basil and toasted pine nuts. After we enjoyed little ricotta dumpling in a lemon butter sauce with peas and mint served alongside fish of the day with fennel, lardo and almond. The selection of side dishes included tomato with dressed connellii beans and marjoram, Cornish leaves with parmesan and fine leaves, tomato and garlic. For dessert, we were spoilt with lemon verbena panna cotta, buttervilla strawberries and granita.

To dine at Fifteen is always a treat. What they do and offer young people through their training is fantastic, the food is delicious and the views across the beach are like no other. If you visit Fifteen, make sure to take a walk along the beach. Watergate Bay is a favourite with families and surfers due to the fantastic conditions. As well as Fifteen, you’ll also find a number of quirky beach bars such as Watchful May and The Beach Hut.

This was a gifted collaboration/influencer lunch however all opinions are my own. We all had a lovely afternoon and the food was delicious!
