Best Restaurants and Bars in Truro, Cornwall
It’s true what they say, Truro is getting its sparkle back. With the opening of several new bars and restaurants in Truro, the town is quickly getting its reputation back for being one of Cornwall’s foodie and boozy hot-spots. Whether you’re looking for a weekend brunch hang-out, Saturday night cocktails or a Sunday roast dinner - Cornwall’s capital has plenty to choose from.
The Wig and Pen
The Wig and Pen is quite easily my favourite place to eat and drink in Truro. Owner’s Lara and Tom have done such an amazing job of revamping the traditional pub located in the heart of Truro. The smart city pub serves food and drink throughout the day, 7 days a week. Sister pub, The Peterville in St Agnes recently won gold at the Cornwall Tourism Awards, and I have faith that The Wig and Pen will be on everyones radar to win this year. Incredible food, lovely staff + owners, talented chefs (shout out to Scotty + the team for the best hash browns on the planet) and quirky cocktails! I promise i’m not bias…. *images by me
The Longstore, Truro
The Longstore, Truro is perfectly positioned on Lemon Street, just on the outskirts of the hustle and bustle of the town centre. With stylish interiors, enjoy an eclectic combination of city dining with a laidback and welcoming atmosphere. Ideal for pre-theatre, or Saturday night cocktails, you can always count on The Longstore for good vibes and incredible food sourced from the land + sea. *images by me
Cup and Cocktail
Welcome to the jungle! Cup and Cocktail is a brand new bar, from the owners of The Thomas Daniell (another fab Truro pub!) Enjoy vibrant cocktails, alongside a “make-your-own mezze board” or sweet treats. You’ll find this intimate bar hidden along Truro’s picturesque Cathedral Lane. *images by me
The Rising Sun
Tucked away on Truro’s medieval route you’ll find The Rising Sun, the cities most-loved dining pub. Serving an array of award-winning dishes, the pub is best known to its loyal, local community for its cosy atmosphere, elegant yet familiar menu and an outstanding Sunday roast. *images by me
Bread and Butter
Bread and Butter is always a winner when it comes to brunching in Truro. Serving locally-roasted coffee, home-baked cakes, vibrant super-salads and sourdough sandwiches. Bread and Butter recently opened their take-away which is positioned opposite their cafe and garden.
Lawrances Bakery and Bar
Everyone loves cocktails and cakes, but even more so when you put them together. Lawrance's has mastered the combination, so much so, that they’re opening their third bakery in Falmouth. Expect insanely Instagrammable vibes, punchy cocktails and insane cakes.
The William IV Pub
The William is always a good shout if you’re looking to grab some decent traditional pub grub! The William play all major live sport events on TV and is always mixing it up and adding new dishes to the menu. They currently have a new tapas menu which is well worth trying! *images by me
